Texas A&M Capstone Design Project - 2018
Using Controlled Atmosphere to Reduce Post-Harvest Losses - Mitigating Impact of the Larger Grain Borer in East Africa.
Received Senior Capstone Design Second Place Award - Biological and Agricultural Engineering with co-authors Ezekiel McReynolds, Kevin Jerpseth, and Brandon Flores.
A prototype storage unit was created and outfitted with sensors to measure carbon dioxide, oxygen, and temperature. The design was able to successfully develop an atmosphere which would induce dormancy in the larger grain borer.
Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas, USA
FE Other Disciplines - 2018
Passed NCEES Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam - Other Disciplines.
Texas, USA
Bachelor of Science - 2018
Completed a Bachelor of Science in Biological and Agricultural Engineering as well as an undergraduate certificate in Engineering Therapeutics Manufacturing from Texas A&M University. Took advanced coursework in food and bioprocess engineering and completed minors in Mathematics and Business Administration.

University of Arizona Field Scanalyzer - 2018
Started as the Field Scanner Operator, an engineer responsible for maintenance, operation, and development of the Field Scanalyzer platform, the world’s largest field phenotyping robot, located at the University of Arizona Maricopa Agricultural Center.
University of Arizona, Maricopa, Arizona, USA
University of Arizona Field Scanalyzer - 2018
Developed a method to improve throughput of the Photosystem II (PSII) chlorophyll fluorescence imager on the Maricopa Field Scanner Sensing Platform, increasing the number of plots that could be processed per hour from 20 to 80.
University of Arizona, Maricopa, Arizona, USA
University of Arizona Field Scanalyzer - 2019
Undertook a project to rewrite the operating scripts on the Maricopa Field Scanner Sensing Platform, refactoring and optimizing the codebase. This reduced the number of scripts used in the season from 107 in the 2018-2019 winter season to 92 in the 2019 summer season, and then further to only 2 actively-used and 7 special-purpose scripts in the 2019-2020 winter season. Iterative development led to parameter-driven operation of the field scanner system and automation of significant portions of the work.
University of Arizona, Maricopa, Arizona, USA
University of Arizona Field Scanalyzer - 2020
Undertook role of lead engineer of the Field Scanalyzer platform.
University of Arizona, Maricopa, Arizona, USA

University of Arizona Field Scanalyzer - 2020
Gathered historical data of system throughput and created simulations for ongoing data production for the field scanner system. Using these simulations to quantify our needs, we were able to reduce recurring costs for internet service.
University of Arizona, Maricopa, Arizona, USA
University of Arizona Field Scanalyzer - 2020
Integrated a new hyperspectral imager to the field scanner system as a proof-of-concept, showing the potential of the machine with new equipment.
University of Arizona, Maricopa, Arizona, USA
University of Arizona Field Scanalyzer - 2020
Initiated software rewrite project to replace the field scanner PLC software.
University of Arizona, Maricopa, Arizona, USA
Master of Science - 2021
Completed a Master of Science in Systems Engineering as well as a graduate certificate in Engineering Management from the University of Arizona. Took advanced coursework in sensing technology and processing, project management, and quality and reliability engineering. Developed a framework for performing reliability engineering on the Maricopa Field Scanner that can be seen here. Portions of this have been implemented to the system to permit reliability growth and long-term sustainability.
University of Arizona, Tucson, Arizona, USA
Custom Ceptometers - 2021
Based on a published design (Salter, W. T., Merchant, A. M., Gilbert, M. E., Buckley, T. N. PARbars: Cheap, Easy to Build Ceptometers for Continuous Measurement of Light Interception in Plant Canopies. J. Vis. Exp. (147), e59447, doi:10.3791/59447 (2019).), developed a measurement system and ceptometers for capturing information on light within crop canopy. Replace unavailable components with suitable alternatives. Built and calibrated the equipment. The equipment showed strong agreement with a known-good, calibrated sensor. The equipment was deployed in-field and obtained data at a significantly lower cost than commercially available solutions.
University of Arizona, Maricopa, Arizona, USA
Biosphere 2 Landscape Evolution Observatory - 2021
Developed a preliminary design for implementing an imaging system to a gantry at the Landscape Evolution Observatory. The design was included in an Equipment Enhancement Fund proposal that was later funded in the amount of $137,938.
University of Arizona, Oracle, Arizona, USA
