Using Controlled Atmosphere to Reduce Post-Harvest Losses - Mitigating Impact of the Larger Grain Borer in East Africa.
Received Senior Capstone Design Second Place Award - Biological and Agricultural Engineering with co-authors Ezekiel McReynolds, Kevin Jerpseth, and Brandon Flores.
A prototype storage unit was created and outfitted with sensors to measure carbon dioxide, oxygen, and temperature. The design was able to successfully develop an atmosphere which would induce dormancy in the larger grain borer.

Developed a method to improve throughput of the Photosystem II (PSII) chlorophyll fluorescence imager on the Maricopa Field Scanner Sensing Platform, increasing the number of plots that could be processed per hour from 20 to 80.

University of Arizona Field Scanalyzer - 2019
Undertook a project to rewrite the operating scripts on the Maricopa Field Scanner Sensing Platform, refactoring and optimizing the codebase. This reduced the number of scripts used in the season from 107 in the 2018-2019 winter season to 92 in the 2019 summer season, and then further to only 2 actively-used and 7 special-purpose scripts in the 2019-2020 winter season. Iterative development led to parameter-driven operation of the field scanner system and automation of significant portions of the work.

Custom Ceptometers - 2021
Based on a published design (Salter, W. T., Merchant, A. M., Gilbert, M. E., Buckley, T. N. PARbars: Cheap, Easy to Build Ceptometers for Continuous Measurement of Light Interception in Plant Canopies. J. Vis. Exp. (147), e59447, doi:10.3791/59447 (2019).), developed a measurement system and ceptometers for capturing information on light within crop canopy. Replace unavailable components with suitable alternatives. Built and calibrated the equipment. The equipment showed strong agreement with a known-good, calibrated sensor. The equipment was deployed in-field and obtained data at a significantly lower cost than commercially available solutions.

Developed a preliminary design for implementing an imaging system to a gantry at the Landscape Evolution Observatory. The design was included in an Equipment Enhancement Fund proposal that was later funded in the amount of $137,938.
